Early image of Black Lion Llanrhystud, photo description:

Original design of the village pub the Black Lion in the early 1900’s. Built of stone and rendered the photo shows a garden to the front of the pub, with a range of shrubs and trees (one that looks like a Monkey Puzzle Tree), the garden is enclosed with a small wall with iron railings on top and two gate openings. The original Black Lion sign is erected at first floor level on the right hand side of the pub. The front elevation at ground level has two sash windows along with a central doorway, at first floor level we see three sash windows, the roof is of traditional Welsh slate along with two chimney stack, at the gable end just below the chimney we see another smaller window suggesting a second floor level. Also to the gable end is a small single story lean-to, and further to the right of that looks like another building which would have sat in the now pub car park. To the left of the pub is the old barn with steps up to first floor (now demolished), and road leading to Church street between the pub and old barn. We also see the parapet wall of the old bridge and road over the river Wyre, heading south to Aberaeron. The black and white image suggests it was taken around 1920s.
