Early image of the Red Lion Llanrhystud, photo description:

Early view of the village pub the Red Lion in the early 1900’s. Built of stone and rendered the photo shows the front elevation, and the distinctive Red Lion plaque above the wooden porch. A thin strip of cobbled floor in front of the inn was all that separated it from the main road. The front elevation at ground level has two sash windows along with a central porch and doorway leading into the inn, at first floor level we see three dormer sash windows, the roof is of traditional Welsh slate along with two chimney stack with drip stones. The gable end has one small window at ground floor level. Stopped outside we see early motor transport of the time was provided by a Milnes Daimler lorry, with it’s open top and adapted to carry foot passengers to and from the village of Llanrhystyd. The dress of the figures opsing to have their picture taken in this black and white image, suggests it was taken around 1920s.

The pub has long since closed and little has changed over the last one hundred years, but the former inn can still be seen today on the A487 opposite the Black Lion, Llanrhystud.
