Llanrhystud Social Events

Llanrhystud local History Group

Thank you to everyone who came to our first meeting on Wenesday 2 October when we were all entertained by a fascinating talk featuring the history of Llanrhystud by Michael Freeman. It is hoped that the above meeting will be the first of regular monthly meetings relating to the history of the Llanrhystud area.

Future Plans

  • It is hoped to establish a working group of researchers who will collect some of the excellent work that has already been done on discovering more about our local heritage but who will also endeavour to add to our knowledge of the past by investigating certain topics.

  • Working together as a team we can build a clearer picture of the past and preserve our more recent history for future generations to enjoy. For example we could collect recent photographic records and try to identify the people featured and find out more about them. Or we could investigate the history of certain buildings in the village or even our ancient past. There is a variety of areas we could look at as individuals and share our findings with the group or and eventually give our own talks.

  • The establishing of a working group will hopefully lead to producing a Llanrhystud Guide Book, Heritage trail and a local history archive that can be accesses on the web. The list of possibilities is endless if we work together.

In the meantime a calendar of events are planned which I hope will be both interesting and entertaining but also assist us in building up a historical picture of the local area. It is important that all the future events are well supported in order to continue with the program.
