The farm is on the Allt-lwyd estate, Llansantffraid (SN530 684), where the house was converted by 1986 into a hotel named Plas-gwyn. This was the home of the family of William Hughes, of Devil’s Bridge, whose son William was vicar of Llanilar. His son John, by Dorothy Evans of Talsarn, married Jane Edwards of Llanilar. Their son John, born 1805, became a JP and married secondly Elizabeth Parry of Llidiardau. Their son John George Parry Hughes, of Alltlwyd, was High Sheriff of Cardiganshire in 1864.
