Cwm Mabws is located on the outskirts of the village, within the parish boundary on the A487 in the county of Ceredigion, nine miles South of Aberystwyth and six miles North of Aberaeron, Wales.
Last night a DAF XF Euro 6 HGV lorry tried to make a delivery in Llanrhystud, turning off the B4337 along the Cwm Mabws narrow country lane, on reaching Mabws Hall the heavy goods vehicle was unable to navigate the sharp corners and hill due to its length and trailer weight. Later the same day, Friday 3 March, it reversed all the way back to Pont Dol-boeth where it parked up overnight.
HGV Lorry Stuck in Cwm Mabws
In the early hours of Saturday morning at 7.30am the Cezch Republic HGV Subrt Tansport lorry tried reversing all the way back to the B4337, unable to travel any further and blocking the lane at Felin Rhiwbwys and Aretas an incident recovery lorry was called. AAS incident recovery vehicle arrived (with its distinctive bright yellow paintwork) later that morning to pull the lorry backwards, up hill to the B4337.
Finally the HGV Subrt Tansport lorry with its 23 tonnes of cargo was inch by inch rescued from the Cwm by winch and the power of the recovery vehicle, the rescue process took three and half hours due to the curve of the road, later that afternoon at 3.00pm it was back on the main road, for its next destination of Liverpool.
